Through Our Eyes debuted in 2006 as a musical theater production about how life is seen through the eyes of special needs individuals. Their stories, told in a series of vignettes and original songs, are at times poignant, humorous, and moving. The cast is split evenly between those with disabilities and healthy teens and adults who cared to share the stage and help tell their stories.
Through Our Eyes was the featured performance at the King, Gandhi, Chavez-Seasons For Non-Violence Conference at the United Nations in New York City on March 12, 2008. The cast also performed at the National Down Syndrome Buddy Walk in 2009 in New York City's Central Park. |
Alan Rosen, Through Our Eyes' author and composer, was named the 2009 recipient of the prestigious VSA Arts Dare To Imagine Award "for making a difference in the lives of people with disabilities.
